BackgroundThe U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention and the François-Xavier Bagnoud Center (FXB), School of Nursing at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey sponsored a one-day expert panel on the preconception and reproductive health needs of women living with HIV. The goal of the expert panel meeting was to develop recommendations on strategies to improve preconception and reproductive health care through the integration of HIV management with reproductive health and family planning services for women with HIV infection. One of the recommendations made that day was to hold joint training opportunities for HIV and family planning providers. Joint trainings provide an opportunity to promote integration between programs and therefore improve the reproductive health of HIV-infected women.
