How to Use This Course

Date of Report: 12/2006
Source: University of Illinois at Chicago and Midwest AIDS Training and Education Center (MATEC)

Welcome

Welcome to "Does the Client Have HIV?: Rapid Testing and Protocols for the Emergency Department." This program contains the audio course you need, plus slides and other documents to allow you to get the maximum value from this program.

How do I listen to the Audio Course?

The audio course is approximately 74 minutes long and can be played on most computers with the Real Media player .

Audio files should open automatically when you click on their links.

How do I use the Slides and Documents?

To use the audio and documents simultaneously, first click on the link to the document and it will open with the appopriate software; then click on the link to the audio file you want to hear. You can also download a document to your hard drive by right clicking on it (Windows users) or Control clicking (Mac users) and navigating to the directory on your computer where you want to save it. Then open the document with the appopriate application (see below).

Do I need to view the slides while listening to the audio?

No. The slides are meant to be used as a supplementary tool and do not necessarily follow the audio presentation.

Slide sets: you will find these slides to be resources, additional information and examples of physical findings.

Slide sets are in Microsoft PowerPoint. Documents are in Acrobat .pdf files and Microsoft Word .doc files. To use .pdf files see below. If you do not have MS-Word, many other word processors can convert it. Check your particular software's HELP area. This material may be used for teaching or presentations with attribution.

What's an Acrobat .pdf file?

Acrobat is a trademarked program of Adobe. You can't edit these documents but you can view and print them using the free Acrobat Reader program. Go to www.adobe.com and follow the instructions to download your free copy. Sometimes opening .pdf files is easier if you launch Acrobat Reader first and you open the files from the "File" menu in the application.

Can I get help to set up collaborations between my Emergency Department and Infectious Disease/HIV providers?
