While it is important to measure process indicators such as the type of training and numbers trained, determining the effectiveness of training activities requires evaluation of outcomes. Some important outcome evaluation definitions are:
Impact: Study that answers questions about program outcomes and impact on the conditions it is intended to ameliorate |
Inputs: Materials and resources the program uses in its activities (e.g., equipment, staff, volunteers, facilities, money, etc.) |
Activities: Processes the program undertakes to meet the clients' needs |
Outputs: Units of service regarding the program (e.g., number of trainees) |
Outcomes: Actual impacts, benefits, and changes for participants during or after the program |
Outcome targets: Number and percent of participants needed to achieve the outcome |
Outcome indicators: Observable and measurable "milestones" toward an outcome target |
