The Pennsylvania/MidAtlantic AETC in collaboration with the Cincinnati STD/HIV Prevention Training Center reached over 50 nurse practitioners, physicians and nurses on 15 army medical center bases throughout the world to inform them of the revised recommendations for HIV testing in Healthcare settings in a video teleconference. The US Army Directorate of Health Promotion and Wellness from the US Army Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Medicine at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland arranged for this videoconference on "Revised Recommendations for HIV Testing in Healthcare Settings." The broadcast was held on July 10, 2007 and will be available beginning August 2, 2007 by archive at www.stdptc.uc.edu. .
1 Category 1 CME available, No fees.

Pennsylvania/MidAtlantic AETC staff, Jan Stockton, RN, MSN, APRN, led a 1.5 hour discussion on the latest HIV testing recommendations. She was able to interact with the providers during the video teleconference and answer questions. Post-program, the AETC provided clinical consultation by e-mail, to a nurse officer on recommended counseling for persons with indeterminate test results. The Army nurse who received the consultation reported that the consultation and training was timely and useful and would be disseminated to her colleagues.

The Pennsylvania/MidAtlantic AETC has developed several resources for implementing the new CDC HIV testing recommendations. This includes a CD on guideline implementation, brochures, consent forms, and clinician pocketguides. If you would like any of these resources please contact Shirley Murphy at smurphy@pitt.edu or 412-624-1895. You can also visit the PAMAAETC at www.pamaaetc.org. .
