Enrique Gomez is an HIV specialist practicing in Mexicali, Baja California, and is affiliated with the Universidad Autonoma de Baja California (UABC). He has collaborated with Dr Fareed to coordinate patient care for more than 10 years. He was a pioneer in establishing HIV testing protocols in this part of the country. His work is very binational, working with patients and colleagues on both sides of the border, setting up procedures for easy communication between clinicians whose patients seek treatment on both sides of the border. He was personally recognized by former president Fox for his work in HIV. He participates in many binational infectious disease intervention programs, and is a consultant to the Pan American Health Association (PAHO). He has collaborated with the Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center in maintaining a binational perspective to HIV on the border for many years. Dr Gomez is also a poet.
