SYNOPSIS/DESCRIPTION:
The Inmate Adherence Videotape Series is a set of five videotapes, aimed at educating HIV-infected inmates about their disease and treatment. The series includes: Video 1- Living Well with HIV, Video 2- Fighting Back: Understanding the HIV Lifecycle, Video 3- Making the Choice: ART 101 and Therapy for Life, Video 4- Staying the Course: Staying on ART Once You Have Started, Video 5- Taking Charge.
SYNOPSIS OF CONSUMER REVIEW:
These videos have been reviewed for the NRC by approximately 100 inmates and parolees at Green County Correctional Facility and Saint Clare's Hospital, the Spellman Clinic. This review has been coordinated with group facilitators at each site.

According to the group facilitators the reviewers could easily identify and "relate to the experiences" of the five men speaking in the video. This aspect of the video "increased it's credibility among inmates" and "really helped them listen to all of the important information." The facilitators found that the video helped address issues of "trusting the system" by showing these groups that the "medical department is not the enemy and you can have a very good relationship with them (the medical department)," This video also had a positive affect on inmates not aware of their HIV status. Several of these reviewers discussed how they now "would be more likely to get tested" and that their sense of "understanding and compassion" for this inmates with HIV had greatly increased.
