SYNOPSIS/DESCRIPTION:
This pocket-size booklet informs people living with HIV/AIDS about the risks involved in taking "Drug Holidays." The booklet contains information about: the effects of skipping one dose of HIV medication; how the HIV medications enter the blood system; how food can affect the level of medication in the blood system; and what to do if the medications need to be discontinued due to side effects.
SYNOPSIS OF CONSUMER REVIEW:
Reviewers agreed that the booklet addresses an important topic. One reviewer stated that, "everyone keeps talking about whether to take a break from medications or not to." Reviewers stated that the booklet explains the importance of not taking a "Drug Holiday" by putting the information in an easy to read format that is also convenient to carry. Reviewers said that the booklet would be most helpful for people starting HIV medications as well as their friends and family members who might provide support to them in adhering to their HIV treatment.
