This booklet provides information about how people living with HIV can best manage and live with this disease The booklet is divided into the following sections: 1) medical information about HIV transmission and treatment, including what to expect at doctor visits; 2) prevention information about how to protect yourself and others including partner notification; and 3) building support systems, including how to access financial assistance and maintain confidentiality.
SYNOPSIS OF CONSUMER REVIEW:
Reviewers said this booklet is helpful for people who are newly diagnosed with HIV because it answers important questions in a supportive and sensitive manner. One reviewer said that this brochure is so supportive that it actually shows you "what to look forward to, in a positive way" when you find out you are infected. Reviewers also said that the prevention information for people with HIV and information on "new ways to have sex" was the most important for them. Reviewers recommend that this booklet be distributed to clients by treatment educators, social workers and counselors.
