This booklet is designed to promote HIV testing among women who are pregnant or considering pregnancy. It lists basic information about HIV and AIDS, including transmission; testing; and prevention; what the test results mean for both mother and baby; tips for communicating with partners about HIV testing and information for women who test positive for HIV.

Reviewers found the booklet to be "realistic," "encouraging," and "effective." One reviewer said, "It really makes you think about your health and your babies health." Another reviewer commented that the booklet provides information on a difficult topic in a "hopeful" manner, helping the reader to understand that "you (they) are not the only one in this situation." According to reviewers, the booklet may help make the decision to get tested for HIV less frightening. The reviewers recommend this be distributed by physicians, nurses, case managers, and outreach workers as well as making at programs serving women of child-bearing age, such as WIC (Women Infant and Children's).
