Case Detail:

A 35-year-old African American male, with a CD4 count of 150 cells/mm3 and a viral load of 7,000 copies/mL, presents with the chief complaint of a burning tongue, which has been present for one week. Oral examination reveals a red, flat subtle lesion on the dorsal surface of the tongue, as pictured below. Further examination reveals another red lesion on the hard palate.

The most probable diagnosis is:

a. Vitamin deficiency
b. Pizza burn
c. Erythematous candidiasis
d. Food allergy
