Note: This brief manual covers key topics in the long-term care of people living with HIV, including testing and counseling, initial evaluation of patients, antiretroviral therapy, common opportunistic infections and comorbidities such as PCP, MAC, TB, hepatitis, and STIs. Primary care topics such as immunizations and cancer screening are also covered. Recommendations are based on published guidelines. Document includes a glossary of medications commonly used in HIV care.

dotWebinar on HIV Testing in the United States: June 22

On Tuesday June 22, 2010, 3:00-4:00pm ET, AIDS.gov will host a National HIV Testing Day webinar for Federal staff and grantees working with domestic HIV/AIDS programs. The webinar will focus on current and future issues related to HIV testing. Among the speakers are many of the U.S. Government's leading voices on HIV/AIDS, including Dr. Deborah Parham Hopson (HRSA) and Dr. Kevin Fenton and Dr. Bernard Branson (CDC). Participants will be encouraged to ask questions. Space is limited. Registrants will be joined on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline for registration is June 18.

dotHIV in the Circle of Life: Challenges in the Native Community

On Thursday, June 10, 2010, the NY/NJ AETC will host this conference in Niagara Falls, NY at the Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel. This conference is for anyone serving Native populations in a health care capacity. It will discuss the importance of early identification of HIV and treatment. It will review models in place in Native Communities which have established programs for substance abuse interventions and coping with historical trauma.
