Synopsis/Description:
This pamphlet is designed to improve adherence with HIV medications.
It informs readers about: the medication interactions with food,
strategies for improving adherence, possible medication side effects
and appropriate doses. The booklet provides this information on
the following information: Ritonavir, Indinavir, Nevirapine, Delavirdine,
Saquinavir, Nelfinavir, Efavirenz, and Abacavir.
Synopsis of NRC Consumer Review: Reviewers agreed that this
is an excellent piece for people who are unfamiliar with the HIV
medication regimens and those who are initiating therapy. One reviewer
said this piece is "simple, to the point" and another
described it as, "not complicated." One reviewer also
noted that, even though this booklet is easy to comprehend, "it
is a good tool to use with a counselor" to improve communication
about HIV medication regimens. Reviewers recommend this booklet
be distributed by physicians, case managers and HIV educators to
"increase adherence, improve the quality of life and teach
people about initiating (or not initiating) therapy."
