Brief Synopsis/Description: This booklet informs people living with HIV/AIDS about combination anti-retroviral therapy. The booklet defines combination therapies, viral load testing, CD4 testing and types of protease inhibitors. It provides suggestions for people to consider when initiating therapy to assist them in making informed choices about treatments for HIV.

Brief Synopsis of NRC Consumer Reviews: The reviewers agreed that this resource might be most helpful to people newly diagnosed with HIV or for those initiating antiretroviral therapy. Reviewers commented that the text and reading level is "very simple, concisely presented and provides basic information." One reviewer found that this is not necessarily "new" information for all consumers, but it is very "readable and easy to understand." According to another reviewer this resource provides the reader with a "sense that these things (medications) can help" and that there "are choices available." The reviewers suggested that case managers, HIV peer educators, outreach workers and physicians, distribute this piece to patients.
