Synopsis/Description:
This booklet is designed to inform people living with HIV of their
available options in taking combination therapies. It defines the
therapies, discusses drug-drug interactions, explains the importance
of taking the medication and provides tools to assist patients in
medication adherence.
Brief Synopsis of NRC Consumer Reviews: Most reviewers agree
that this piece is "very thorough, well organized" and
can act as a "mini- reference" for people living with
HIV. The reviewers said it was helpful because it is "packed
with information." One reviewer was satisfied with the piece
because it was not just designed for someone newly diagnosed or
just initiating therapy. Instead, it provided more detailed information
for the consumer who has more experience with their medications
and looking for other options. The reviewers also recommended this
booklet be distributed by HIV/AIDS Educators, Physicians, Substance
Use Counselors and Case Managers.
Important
Notes: Information on HIV medication is rapidly changing. The
information in this material is accurate up to it's date of publication,
however the recommended dosing schedule for DDI has changed just
recently. This publication still has valuable information in it
for providers and consumers; therefore it is still being distributed,
but be sure to talk to your physician about the regimen of DDI.
Also, check the NAPWA website for a downloadable version of this
booklet or for revisions to the booklet.
