These steps include: how to prepare meat and poultry, how to make drinking water safe, what to look for when grocery shopping and what to order when dinning out.

Synopsis of NRC Consumer Reviews: The reviewers said this brochure is a useful piece for people newly diagnosed with HIV and for people who are looking for "education on basic principles of food safety." One reviewer discussed that the information in the brochure "takes away some of the fears" around restricting your diet for safety reasons. Another reviewer suggested that this resource is " a bit limited, but it teases the reader to continue to look for more information" from sources listed in the back of the brochure or from their physician. Reviewers agreed this resource would be distributed most often by case managers, educators, nurses, physicians and nutritionist.
