SYNOPSIS/DESCRIPTION:
This material includes charts with light snacks and meal ideas for people taking Crixivan. It is designed to help consumers choose low-fat and low-calorie snacks that should not affect the absorption of the Crixivan. The charts include serving sizes and choices for soups, desserts, snacks, vegetables, cereals, breads, pastas and fruits.
SYNOPSIS OF CONSUMER REVIEW:
The consumer reviewers agreed this piece is very helpful to people with HIV starting crixivan. The reviewers said the resource is "easy to carry," "provides a variety of snacks" and the charts are "quick reference guides" that are "easy to understand." One reviewer thought there should be a few more options of "food to represent more cultures," but in general it is a good reference. The reviewers also suggest this piece being distributed by case managers, nutritionists and nurses.

Important Notes
Since many people are taking more then one protease inhibitor the NRC reviewers recommend patients to check with their nutritionist or physician and ensure that these snacks will work for their combination of therapies.
