HIV/AIDS Surging in Eastern Europe [Stephenson J. JAMA 2000;284:3113]: This item from "Medical News and Perspectives" in JAMA concerns the massive increase in HIV/AIDS in Eastern Europe as reported by UNAIDS. There are currently about 700,000 people living with HIV infection, compared to 420,000 one year ago.
