HIV-Associated
Coronary Arteritis in a Patient with Fatal Myocardial Infarction[Barbaro
G et al. NEJM 2001; 344: 1799]:The authors report a case
of a 32-year-old man with a fatal myocardial infarction. The autopsy
showed that 80% of the anterior descending artery and 70% of the
circumflex were eroded. In situ hybridization showed HIV
sequences within the arterial wall. The implication is that this
HIV-associated arteritis was responsible for his MI.
