Aspergillosis Among People Infected with Human Immunodeficiency Virus: Incidence and Survival [Holding KJ, et al. CID 2000;31:1253]: This is a review of data from the Adult and Adolescent Spectrum of HIV Disease for 1990-98. The analysis for aspergillosis showed 228 cases among 35,252 persons for an incidence of 3.5/1,000 patient-years. Data available from a subset of 144 patients showed that the most common sites of aspergillus isolation were the lung (114), blood (8), and sinuses (7). The most common species was A. fumigatus. The median survival was three months, and the number alive at one year was 26%.
