Unique/special services:
Targeted Clinic Program: MATEC seeks to identify primary care clinics in highly impacted areas to partner with in development and expansion of HIV care readiness within the facility. The goal would be for MATEC to work closely with the leadership of the clinical facility (the Executive and Medical Directors) to build an HIV resource for the community served by the clinic. This would entail the following activities:

  • Establish a baseline understanding of the level of staff knowledge, practice, and willingness to serve people living with HIV.
  • Development of tailored training and support plan for the clinic and its staff.
  • Identification of and linkage to resources for funding HIV care and services.
  • Regular assessment of changes on baseline measures of level of staff knowledge, practice, and willingness to serve people living with HIV.
  • Determination of quantifiable changes in HIV service delivery by the clinic.
  • Continued clinical consultation for key clinicians within the facility by identified HIV experts.

Individualized Clinician Training Program: The MATEC Individualized Clinician Training Program was designed to meet a unique set of characteristics and needs related to the dynamic nature of the AIDS epidemic in under-served communities ranging from highly-impacted urban areas to outlying rural areas with inadequate access to providers. Clinicians accepted to the program will work with MATEC staff to develop an individualized training plan. Typical training programs may include the physician and multidisciplinary core programs, clinical management seminars, skill-building workshops, and special conferences that are held during the year. In addition, each participant will be placed with experienced clinicians for on-site preceptorships at one of MATEC's many clinical affiliate sites and will be connected to expert providers for consultation during and after their program year.
Facilitated Consultation: The facilitated clinical consultation is designed for providers who have participated in our MATEC programs. It is not a general consultation service. We want to foster existing consultation patterns by structuring a complementary service rather than a competitive one. This service addresses the gaps in current networks and should serve as the "safety net" for consultation for patients that may have limited access to services eg: Medicaid, Medicare, Ryan White patients. Our consultation service is answered by our MATEC Clinical Director, Cathy Creticos, MD @ 312-636-6437. You can leave a voice mail 24 hours a day and calls will be returned within 24 - 48 hours)

Requests for services: Those seeking services should contact the local performance site for their state.
