  • How People Learn: Brain, Mind, Experience, and School
    Date: 2000
    Much of the new theory on learning has been published in this U.S. National Academy of Sciences volume which is available in its entirety online. Chapters 1-5 are key.
  • How People Learn: Bridging Research and Practice
    Date: 2000
    A companion volume with key findings and suggestions for improving teaching, learning, and design of learning environments. Pay close attention to Chapter 2 which covers "Implications for Teaching," "Bringing Order to Chaos," "Designing Classroom Environments," and "Applying the Design Framework to Adult Learning".
  • Non-Western Educational Traditions: Indigenous Approaches to Education, Thought, and Practice
    Author Timothy Reagan provides an introductory survey of the heart of educational practice in indigenous African, Islamic, Asian, Hindu, and Mesoamerican traditions. This book is only available in hard copy but can be purchased online.
