Slide Sets: Cultural Competency

Note: The AETC National Resource Center has posted three new cultural competency slide sets from the Delta AETC.


	Cultural Interactions: How to Negotiate the Clinic/Patient Relationship This slide set teaches participants how to identify a plan to maintain the momentum from the training and how to define the clinic culture they want to portray.

	Cultural Interactions: Organizational Cultural Awareness This slide set teaches participants how to define cultural competence and how assumptions about staff influence interactions in positive and negative ways.

	HIV/AIDS and the Latino/Hispanic Population This slide set teaches participants about risk factors and barriers to care for Latinos and highlights common Latino stereotypes.

Updated CDC Fact Sheets: Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis for HIV Prevention

Note: CDC has released two new fact sheets focusing on Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). PrEP may be part of comprehensive HIV prevention services in which HIV-negative people who are at high risk take antiretroviral medication daily in an effort to lower their chances of becoming infected with HIV.


	Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV Prevention: Promoting Safe and Effective Use in the United States This fact sheet includes initial cautions for gay and bisexual men, interim guidance for physicians, discussion about how to maximize the potential of these developments, and CDC's next steps.

	CDC Trials: Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV Prevention, A New Approach to HIV Prevention This fact sheet includes studies which prove that PrEP is safe and effective in gay and bisexual men, CDC-sponsored PrEP trials in Botswana and Thailand, and the PrEP implementation plan in the U.S.

	HIV in the Primary Care Setting: A Faculty Development Program Note: The New England AETC will host a faculty development program from Saturday, April 9th through Sunday, April 10th. This two day program will feature case presentations and discussion about the most recent and significant findings in HIV Treatment and Care in the Primary Care setting. Participants will hear presentations from leading providers in key areas of treatment, co-morbidities, Hepatitis C, reproduction, aging and testing.
